The Flip

I’ve decided to stop bumming one from work and finally break down and buy the damn thing … the Flip Video Camcorder.  Basically, the Flip Video has no moving parts, plugs in with no cables, is wicked cheap, and can record 30 to 60 minutes of video with sound.  That video is much better quality than on YouTube, and is a great device for streamlining video content up to YouTube.

I’m still considering it, but don’t be suriprised if you find one in my hands soon.

Recently, a group from Raleigh got to be part of a beer-festival fundraiser sponsored by CapeFear Biofuels in Wilmington, NC.  Basically, a bunch of homebrewers each showed up to serve some of their wares to 200 members from the general public.  It was a great time for all; you can check out some youtube videos of the event at my youtube profile page.

One of our loans from the original two microloans has been repaid, and lent out again!  This time $250 went to a pineapple grower named Juana Maria Calero Managua, Nicaragua (pic below).  You can check here for the status of all the microloans the November ‘07 Microfest has contributed to.Also, driven by a love for sharing our home-brew wares, and guided by social conscience, Robert and I are starting to coordinate the next beer-raiser.  It should be in late spring, early summer … check back for details.
